3a. Economic Data

Analysing economic data of a specific country.

1

Searching for an Economic Data item.

Below the country’s Profile section is an analysis tool to view Economic Data for the selected Country. To select an item to view, search for and select a field in the Item Search bar below the Economic Data heading.

2

Viewing the data in a table.

In the screenshot below, we have selected and are viewing data for the item Gross Domestic Product.

The left side of the Economic Data container contains a table with three columns:

  • Year: The year the data in its respective row is representative of.

  • Value: The value of the Economic Data item selected for the Year mentioned in that row.

  • Percentage Change: The percentage change in the item's value from the previous year to the current year. Negative values will have a red background, while positive values have a green background.

The earliest year where this data is recorded will be at the bottom of the table, while the latest year’s data will be at the top of the table.

3

Viewing a summary of the data.

To the right of the table is a Summary section. This will contain a sub-section for the maximum, minimum and average values in the table. The year of those values will be displayed alongside them.

The sub-section below will contain the minimum, maximum and average Percentage Change values, highlighting the smallest, largest, as well as the average change of the selected Economic Data item between years.

Please note that if a value appears more than once in the table, only the latest year where that value was recorded will be stated in the Summary section.

4

Viewing the data in a graph.

Below the Table and Summary section, the same data will be displayed in Graph form.

The y-axis is representative of the Value being measured, while the x-axis is representative of the Year when that value was recorded.

Hovering over a specific period will trigger a tooltip to appear, where the period’s Year and Value will be displayed.

5

Viewing the reference list.

The last section of the page contains a Reference List, displaying any sources used to compile information for the relevant analytics tool.

The screenshot above is of the Reference List for the Countries object. We can see that Databank - The World Bank was used to compile information for this analytics tool.
